Vigilantes Choral Group

The Vigilantes consist of individuals who are captivated by choral singing. Though many of our members have received musical educations, we do not perform as a professional choir; we simply seek to enliven liturgical music and use it to glorify the Lord.

Our name derives from the Latin word vigilia, vigil. We chose this name because we focus on the Christmas Eve liturgy. We select our music from Dominican liturgical books, many of which were written in the 13th century, adopting liturgical practices from the Polish Dominican brothers.

Our History

Our first meeting occurred in 2010, when we prepared music the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity and Christmas Eve. Many wanted to continue to sing together after these Masses so Father Grzegorz Przechowski OP generously organized a musical group for us.

In the following years, we have sung for Masses on Christmas Eve, The Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary, All Saints Day, The First Sunday of Advent, Epiphany, the Annunciation of the Lord, the Feast Day of Catherine of Siena, Pentecost, and the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. We have also participated in devotional song organized by the DLC. However, we still retain our focus on vigil celebrations.

Father Wojciech Sznyk OP conducts the Vigilantes. He was preceded by Father Stanisław Nowak OP (2016-2018) and Father Tomasz Rojek OP (2012-2013).
